Dennis Yang is a 2nd generation acupuncturist licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, specializing in orthopedic issues. Since an early exposure to acupuncture through assisting his father in South Korea, he has studied over a dozen acupuncture styles and osteopathy from various teachers over the years, gradually learning to treat a wide range of diseases, especially orthopedic problems, headaches, digestive disorders, and hormonal imbalances.
Dennis realized over time that the human body is too complex for intellectualized ancient Eastern healing theories alone, and began relying on hands-on palpation for diagnosis and treatment, often borrowing ideas from Western Science to understand his palpatory findings. His understanding of acupuncture therapy has become fairly simple as well; locate energy blockages that are impeding the flow of blood, lymph, and nerve impulses with palpation, and needle them.
Dennis is happiest when his patients eventually become independent of him and graduate from his practice, at least for the presenting complaint. He will take time to explain what might be causing the disease, what he is doing to treat it, what exercises to do, and what dietary changes to make.
Dennis holds a Master of Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture, and a B.S. and an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Earlier in his career, Dennis designed computer software systems in financial, public and telecommunications industries.
In his free time, Dennis enjoys hikes and movies with his wife, Lija, who encouraged him to pursue his dream of becoming an acupuncturist and supported his career transition. He also spends hours training in Tai Chi Chuan and meditation everyday, and at times, revisits his old passion of lifting weights.
